Soul care gives you a safe space to fully be yourself within the arms of lovingkindness, which sets you free and makes you whole—exactly as things are.
One of our deepest needs and longings, is to be fully seen and accepted. In soul care (aka spiritual direction) with Dr. Lang, you are free to share all of yourself in a judgment free, love-soaked space.
There is something deeply freeing about being able to reveal what's going on inside of you — be it hopes, questions, dreams, hurts, fears, insecurities, desires, and/or ______ — in a safe space. Time-and-again, people leave sessions feeling lighter and brighter on the inside.
In your sessions, Lang seeks to be an illuminator. He does so primarily by listening to you deeply; as well as posing open ended questions that help you get to the heart of a matter, yourself, and the Divine. Lang will also reflect back what he hears from and sees in you, and occasionally offer you a new perspective or practice to try on for size.
Having the breadths and depths of you welcomed and hosted in this manner, will invite you to feel not only clearer, but more connected, confident, calm, and cheerful. It is like a ticket to ride a spiritual upward spiral. That said, please note, your privacy is paramount; meaning what you share is confidential, and Lang never tells anyone else the names of who he sits with. If you and Lang are a good fit for one another, you’ll typically meet once a month. He received his Certification in Spiritual Direction from George Fox University in May 2025, and is a member of the board at the Companioning Center.

“Think of what it means to speak of someone having their spirit broken or losing their spirit. What we usually mean by this is that such a person has lost their zest for living. They might feel deflated or even depressed. They might have lost their spark or their energy. … Without spirit, we have no life. The Gospels describe Jesus as giving up his spirit and dying. To lose your spirit is to be on a deathwatch. Unless you can recover your spirit, you will die because spirit is life. Spirit is the fire in the belly that we need if we are to live as humans, not machines. It is the vital life energy that Freud called the life instinct. Spirit kindles passions that make life worth living. Spirit animates, sustains, and gives purpose and direction to life. … First and foremost, our spirituality is what we do with our vital life force. It is how we channel our desires and shape our actions.”
